Without a competitor in sight skylight looks set to cruise smoothly through the summer. If you re ever wandering around wapping bored of the packed pubs and all bar one wiggle your way through tobacco dock and onto a rooftop. Since the location is not in a bar hopping area this is more of a place where you spend a few more hours or the whole evening but you ll always have something to do. Skylight is a pop up bar and food destination.

This old carpark now holds a three level rooftop bar where you during summer can play a game of croquet or petanque boule or watch the world cup or wimbledon on large screens. Skylight s summer iteration sees our rooftop transform into an urban lawn club complete with croquet lawns pètanque courts and ping pong tables. At 18 00 we will ask all under 18s to move on to their evening destinations on thursdays fridays and saturdays. Skylight has a permanent pop up feel set on the top three floors of the disused penning street multi storey car park close by tobacco dock well worth a look itself.

To get to skylight you go through a garage to get to the rooftop. Children are welcome all day on sundays and bank holiday mondays. You go in through the old car park entrance and walk up the concrete steps to the top floors no lifts here. During the winter months skylight is transformed into a frosty wonderland complete with an ice rink ice hockey slapshot cosy igloos and mountain huts.

Skylight is not a lesson in revolutionary branding. This rooftop bar boasts 360º views including the distinctive city skyline and provides plenty of photo opportunities. But it has something to show for the originality of its location.
